FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Straight answers about how we work, what we're licensed to do, and how to get started.
What is GIS consulting, and why would my organisation need it?
GIS (Geographic Information System) consulting involves collecting, analysing and visualising data tied to a physical location. It helps organisations understand spatial patterns, track assets, monitor change over time, and make decisions based on where things are and how they relate to each other — rather than relying on spreadsheets or memory alone.
Where is Inventree based, and which areas do you service?
Inventree is based in Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa. We primarily service Cape Town and the Western Cape, and take on project-based work across South Africa depending on scope.
Do you hold drone (RPAS) licensing for aerial survey work?
Yes. Inventree holds RPAS licensing and operates drone survey work in accordance with South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) regulations.
Which industries does Inventree work with?
We focus primarily on conservation, agriculture, mining, utilities and telecommunications, though our GIS methods apply to any organisation working with location-based data.
How long does a typical GIS or drone survey project take?
This depends on the size of the site and the scope of work. A single-site drone survey can often be completed within days, while larger data collection, analysis or systems-integration projects are scoped individually. We provide a timeline as part of every proposal.
Can you integrate GIS data into our existing systems?
Yes. Our systems integration service connects GIS data and analysis into the asset management systems, dashboards or web portals your organisation already uses.
Do you work with government departments or municipalities?
Yes, we take on public-sector and municipal projects alongside our private-sector work, subject to standard project scoping and procurement processes.
